Day 51: P90x Core Synergistics




Day 51. P90x Core Synergistics. Ahhh. This work out rocks. You forget how good it is since you only do it once in each phase. P90X Core Synergistics might make me sweat more than any other work out. Well at least it did today. We also did the Ab Ripper work out after. Talk about burning calories. Ab Ripper was definitely more difficult after core synergistics.

Day 50: P90x Yoga X





Day 50: P90x Yoga X. Well I must say this work out goes bye faster and faster each time I do it. It's getting easier to handle. Poses are getting easier and I am getting more flexible. Started out a little tired considering we ran yesterday, then played baseball and pickle, then soccer. What rest day? Who needs rest? (kidding)

Day 49. P90x Stretch X or rest. Well I might as well keep the rest trend going. Right? Won't be total rest though. We're going to go for about a 4 mile run today. Starting monday is reovery and ab focus week. Yoga X twice, core synergistics, Kenpo X and Stretch X.

Day 48: P90x Kenpo X




Day 48: P90x Kenpo X. I'm going to have to really "Bring it" today since I had a bunch of beers last night. I think after Kenpo and cutting the grass I will go for a couple mile run. That should about do it for getting rid of those beers. Kenpo X is really getting easy for me. Once this 90 days is done I think I am going to make a more intese version of my own Kenpo X by incorporating a heavy bag. So instead of throwing the kicks and punches in the air I will be making contact with the heavy bag. Might be a bit tough to do for a full hour but we'll see what happens.

Day 47: P90x Legs and Back/Ab Ripper




Day 47. P90x Legs and Back/Ab Ripper. All I can say is wall squats. Those of you that are doing P90x know what I mean. They Buuuuuurn. In a good way. Pull ups and more pull ups. Wear gloves, your hands will love you for it. I need to get a pair very soon. They will really come in handy on bicep day. All those curls and pull ups take their toll on your hands. This is also the last week of this routine. Next week starts week 8. Kind of a recovery week but i'm not to sure I would call it that since I have to do Yoga X twice next week. Just when you start getting used to a routine Tony Horton switches it up. That's where the muscle confusion comes in. I can't believe after next week I will be in phase 3 which is the final phase. The home stretch. Debating on getting Shaun T's Insanity when it comes but I haven't decided for sure yet. I want to get back on the weights.

Day 46: P90x Yoga X



Day 46. P90x Yoga X. I am getting more flexible and I didn't hate this work out as much today. Actually kind of felt good. Poses are a little easier to hold. First time I did Yoga X it was really tough. Now it's hard but I can manage it. Do not skip this work out. It helps everything else. Like I said in earlier posts, there is a method to the madness. We also ran about 2 miles in 90 degree heat right after doing Yoga X. Talk about breaking a sweat. Next week we have to do Yoga X twice and I really think I will be pretty flexible and be able to hold all of the poses after next week. They might not be as pretty and perfect but I'll hold them.

Day 45: P90x Back and Biceps/Ab ripper





Day 45. P90x Back and Biceps/Ab Ripper Ahhh. The half way point for P90x. Today felt tougher than last week. My arms are spent today. Pull ups were tough and the corn cob pull ups were really hard today but all in all I really like this work out. You can really feel it in your arms. You get a lot of bicep reps in. My back feels good also. I think I might have thrown something out of wack last week with either the lawn mowers or the pull ups but today was just fine. Then just when you think you are done with that last super set then it is time for Ab Ripper x. Ab Ripper is not to bad any more. My hip flexors are still fine and I even have started using a medicine ball to do the mason twist. "Bring It"

Day 44: P90x Plyometrics




Day 44. P90x Plyometrics. Jump,jump,jump. Get up, stand up, come on throw ya hands up. Get out ya seat and jump around. Yep, that's House of Pain. "Jump Around", this song should be the theme song for plyometrics day. You want to burn some calories? Then jump around. Well, it is a little more strategic then just jumping aound but I'm sure you get the point. I put back on those few pounds that I lost that I didn't want to lose. With all of these calorie burning P90x work outs I figure I need to get around 2400 calories a day in. Now when you're eating clean that's a lot of calories. I feel like I am always eating. Tomorrow brings the half way point and this far I feel I have been doing pretty good. Fell off the nutrition band wagon to indulge in some beer drinking but that really is about it. I've had 1 coke in 45 days, no white rice, no white pasta, no white bread,no candy,cakes or really any sweets. I did have some cheese cake awhile back. I had a some bbq chips at the party on sat along with a hot dog and hamburger but that is about it for cheating days. I've followed the nutrition plan to about 90-95% I would say. Moderation is the key when it comes to eating. I really don't feel like I am missing out on anything and those few days I wanted to cheat a little I did. Just can't do it everyday. That's when the problems will start. See you all tomorrow for back and biceps/ab ripper.

Day 43: P90x Chest, Shoulders and Triceps/Ab Ripper





Day 43. P90x Chest, Shoulders and Triceps/Ab Ripper. Ahhh. Felt good to burn off some of the junk I ate on Saturday. I like all the different moves in this work out. Makes it go by pretty fast. You don't repeat any moves. You definitely feel it when you are done with this one. Almost to the half way point of P90x. 2 more days and it will be half way. I'm not getting sore any more so thats good but these work outs do make you sweat up a storm.

Day 42: P90x Stretch X or Rest



Day 42. I can to P90x Stretch X or Rest. Well after a night of heavy partying I will choose rest. Didn't get to bed til about 4am or so. Going to have to really "Bring it" tomorrow to burn off all that beer.

Ravens' Ray Lewis did P90X


Ray Lewis talks about his new fitness routine.

For Lewis, who recently expressed disappointment that the Pro Bowl won’t be in Hawaii next year, the game is “always special.” He loves everything about spending a week in the islands with family and friends. He especially loves being part of an ultra-elite group of players.

“When you find yourself over here, you always greatly appreciate it because it’s (an indication) of people really watching you saying, ‘Wow! He’s still there and still doing great things,’” Lewis said. “So it’s always a great honor.”

Lewis, 33, and Gonzalez, who turns 33 later this month, take exceptionally good care of themselves. They also know they’ve been fortunate to be healthy enough at the end of each season to play in the Pro Bowl. In most cases, players who don’t participate usually are recovering from an injury.

Lewis, who played a vital role in helping the Ravens reach the AFC Championship Game, said he has never felt better physically in 13 NFL seasons. He largely credits that to changing his approach to physical conditioning during every offseason. Lewis’ theory: If you do the same thing, you’ll get the same results.

Lewis’ newest routine includes a program called P90X, which operates on the principle of “muscle confusion.” The concept is to constantly introduce the body to new movements and exercises so it won’t plateau.

“I just incorporated it in a lot of different places in my workouts, and it’s given me the challenge that I needed,” Lewis said. “Greatness is not just one big thing — it’s a lot of small things done well. So whether it’s Tony working out the way he’s always worked out or he’s catching a number of passes he catches each day, or whether it’s me sitting down for film study for hours and hours and hours, whether it’s the crazy workouts, these are the things you can look back on in your career (as reasons for individual success).”

Day 41: P90x Kenpo X




Day 41. P90x Kenpo X. Well I had to improvise today. I only had a half hour to squeeze in a work out today since we are getting ready for a party tonight. I did some work on the heavy bag, kicks and punches. Did some lunges, arm curls, pushups and some jumping jacks. Kept moving for about 30 minutes. I know I will get plenty of carbs in today.(beer,hot dogs, hamburgers)

Day 40: P90x Legs and Back/Ab Ripper






Day 40 of P90x. Legs and Back/Ab Ripper. Ahhh. This is another great workout. Really works the legs and you still do a lot of pull ups. For anyone out there who is on the fence about doing P90X, I say go for it. This is a program like you have never done before. This is my first DVD work out and I love it. I jumped on the scale today and realized I dropped a couple more pounds. Ooops. I have to eat more. I'm burnig to many calories and not eating enough. Like I said before I'm not trying to drop any pounds. I will just have to eat more I guess. (yes clean eating)

Day 39: P90x Yoga X





Day 39. P90x Yoga X. A whole hour and a half of Yoga. Yaaaay. Still don't like it and my back was hurting today so I really didn't want to do it. I did it anyway and I think my back feels a little better now after yoga x. All the stretching worked out a couple kinks I think. Yoga X really isn't that bad. I just think since it is something new to me and difficult that is the reason I don't like it. The balance poses are tough but they really make you use your muscles in a whole new way.

Day 38: P90x Back and Biceps/Ab Ripper





Day 38 of P90x. Back and Biceps/Ab Ripper. All I can say is those corn cob pull ups are hard. Very hard. Pull ups in general are hard enough let alone trying to go up then side to side and then in and out all in 1 motion. Great work out though. This work out really isolates the biceps. One of the things I like about this work out is there are 24 different moves. So this is a no repeat work out. It seems to make it go by a lot faster.

Day 37: P90x Plyometrics




Day 37 of P90x is Plyometrics. Wasn't sure how this was going to feel since my legs were killing me for the last couple of days. They were ok today though. Just a little sore but I made it through Plyometrics just fine. I even managed to go play some tennis with my son afterwards.

Day 36: P90x Chest, Shoulders and Triceps/Ab Riper




Day 36 of P90x consists of Ab Ripper and Chest, Shoulders and Triceps. I still can't believe my legs are still sore from legs and back on friday. I only used light dumbells too. I still made it through today. Good thing there were really no legs involved. Only engaged the hip flexors during the Ab Ripper and they were not sore from friday. Ab Ripper is getting a little easier to do now also and it does not make my hip flexors sore anymore. I stil can't believe what a neglected muscle that was on me. Who knew? That is also one of the great things about P90x. You use all of these little muscles you didn't know you have. Now that the Stanley Cup Playoffs are over I should't have to worry too much about straying from the nutrition plan with some beers. The days I did get a few extra calories I just made sure I worked extra hard the next day. Well, tomorrow is plyometrics and I sure do hope my legs are back to normal by then. If not, it's going to be an even harder work out.

Day 34: P90x Kenpo X




Day 34 of P90x is Kenpo X. Well my Redwings played like crap and lost game 7. There will be no cup hoisting for them. Very dissappointing. Now I had to do Kenpo X with a bit of a hang over. Good thing it's not that difficult but I will tell you one thing. My legs are really sore from yesterday. It was tough to lift them to do the kicks. I used dumbells for pretty much all of the lunges and squats yesterday and I'm really feeling it today. Hamstrings and glutes. Ouch!

Day 32: P90x Yoga X and the names of the poses in P90 X Yoga X.






Day 32. P90x Yoga X. Another day of Yoga and I still don't like it. Too long and i'm not flexible. It is getting easier though. I can pretty much hold all of the poses now but I am still working on the flexibility thing. I had a question from someone the other day. They wanted to know the name of all the poses in the P90x Yoga X work out, so I will post the poses and exercises here so you can see what the are. We do Astanga Sun Salutations (Vinyasas), Chaturanga, Downward Dog, Upward Dog, Runner's Pose, Crescent Pose, Warrior One, Warrior Two, Warrior Three, Reverse Warrior, Triangle Pose, Twisting Triangle, Prayer Twist, Right-Angle Pose, Half Moon, Twisting Half Moon, Tree, Royal Dancer, Standing Leg Extension, Crane (better use your pillow), Seated Spinal Stretch, Cat Stretch, Frog, Bridge (Wheel), Plough, Table, Cobbler Pose, Touch the Sky, Boat, Half Boat, Torso Twist Hold, Side Twist, Deep Torso Twist Hold, Side Twist, Glute Strech, Happy Baby, Child's Pose, Shavasana (Corpse Pose), Fetal Pose and the Meditation Pose (Lotus). Yes, you do all of these in about and hour and a half on Yoga X day. Yes, they are hard but get easier as the weeks progress. Well, for the of you who wanted to know the names of the poses in P90x Yoga X I hope this helps. There are also a few other stretches but as far as the Yoga X poses, this is all of them.

Day 31: P90x Back and Biceps/Ab Ripper





Day 31. P90x Back and Biceps/Ab Ripper. You know it's funny beacause I was just thinking that we really haven't done any intense bicep work yet, until today. I was wondering when it was coming and my question was answered. In the other work outs we did some pull ups and some curls but those didn't really leave me feeling it like today's work out did. Today really focused on the biceps and I can feel it. (in a good way) All kinds of curls today. Felt pretty good. I really didn't have a ton of energy this morning but I still did the best I could. Sometimes I think I would be better off doing these work outs later on in the day when I have more energy. Come to think of it I did have a yogurt instead of a banana before my work out. I think the banana is better. Gives me a little boost I think.

These are my P90x day 30 pictures and measurements. It will be interesting to see what my day 60 P90x pictures will look like. Phase 2 and phase 3. I also lost an inch in my chest, waist and hips. Weird. Like I said, I'm not trying to lose weight. I think that is because I haven't been hitting the weights. Before p90x I would usually do 3-4 work outs a week of weight training. Now I am just doing the P90x program.

Day 30: P90x Plyometrics




Ahhhhh. Day 30. P90x Plyometrics. This work out really makes me sweat. Jumping, squats, more jumping, squat jacks. Really gets the heart pumping. Plus, my nutrition plan changes in this phase. Wooo hoo! I get to eat 3 carbs a day instead of 1. Hmmmm. Hope that means french fries, beer and pizza. (kidding) Exercises are starting to get a little easier so now more than ever this is where you have to push yourself and keep proper form. Especially if you want to see great results. get low in those squats. Hold those poses. In other words "Bring It". You should be breathing hard, sweating and shaking during some poses. If you're not then you need to push harder. I will be taking some new pictures and measurements later today and I will post them. I know I lost some belly fat. Not that I have too much fat on me but I know my belly is smaller. Probably lost a few pounds but I will try to put those back on. I'm sure my body fat percentage will be lower also.

Day 29: P90X Chest, Shoulders and Triceps/Ab Ripper





Day 29 with P90x. Chest, shoulders and triceps and Ab Ripper. Starting week 5. It's time to bring it. This work out had a great mix of exercises. All new movements. Tony Horton says that is the key. Muscle confusion. Those plyo push ups were tough. I had the mat moving all over the place for some reason. Once I got my hands and feet in the air it stopped moving but if I just clapped then the mat wouldn't stay in place. How about some 1 arm push ups. Those were very hard. Don't worry you can do them on your knees.

Day 27 P90x Yoga X. Yoga is getting easier and I am getting more flexible. I am curious to see just how flexible I will be at the end of the 90 days. Well, week 5 coming up on monday. Diet changes and the workouts change.

Day 26: P90x Core Synergistics



For me day 26 of p90x consisted of core synergistics for the second time this week. Great workout once again. You get to do some rolling around on the ground and some light work with the dumbells or bands. I really do not want to do P90x Yoga x tomorrow but I said I will stick with the plan so I guess I will just have to grin and bear it. My core is definitely starting to look different. I ate a little more today since I dropped to 163. I need to get back to 170. Maybe I'll stop at Dunkin Donuts and get about 24 donut holes and an extra large coffee with tons of cream and sugar. That might do the trick. NOT. I'll be a good boy and have my protein shake. Its almost day 30 and I am looking forward to posting some 30 day P90x results pictures. Maybe I'll put them side by side with day 1 p90x pictures.

Day 25: P90x Stretch X





Well it's day 25 of P90x and today was Stretch X. You could do this workout in the previous 3 weeks on the 7th day or you can rest. I always chose to rest. Today was the first time I have done the P90x Stretch X workout and I must say it feels pretty good. Stretch x really loosens you up. I think I am starting to get a little more flexible after doing the Yoga x and now with this stretch x I will be a gumby doll in no time. (doubt it) Once again it is a great way to mix it up so you are not doing the same thing all the time.

Well it's time to go watch the wings hopefully beat up on the Penguins tonight. This will set the stage so we can win the cup at home on Saturday night. Looks like I'll be cheating on my nutrition plan again.

Day 24: P90x Kenpo X




Ahhhhh. Day 24 of P90x. Today was Kenpo X. Some good cardio today! Felt like a little mini break from all of the pull ups, push ups, squats etc. This workout will give you a chance to recoup a little bit but is still a great cardio workout.

Not too much to talk about today. I'm sure there will be plenty at the start of next week since everything changes.

Day 23: P90x Core Synergistics





Day 23. P90X Core Synergistics. Now this was a fun workout. All core, but moves you probably never have done before. Variety is what keeps P90x fun. Something different every day. It wasn't too terribly hard but the 3 weeks leading up to this prepare you for this workout to make it a little easier. In the book it says week 4 is "recovery and ab focus" week but we don't do the P90x Ab Ripper at all. I might mix it in if I'm feeling up to it. I'll be posting some 30 day P90x results pictures in about a week or so. I know I have lost some fat but it will be nice to see any changes in the pictures.

Day 22: P90x Yoga X




Today was a fun filled day of P90x Yoga X. This is week four and the routine changes for this week. 2 days of Yoga X, some core work, Stretch X and Kenpo X. I still do not like Yoga and I'm not too thrilled that I have to do it twice this week but all well. I'm sticking to the program. Nutrition plan also changes a little bit next week. Get to add a couple extra carbs. Maybe that means a few more beers. NOT. Well I just took a quick measurement and I lost about 3% body fat so far and about 5 lbs. I need to get my weight back up and get the body fat even lower. Not sure what to shoot for maybe 12-14%. I'm at 20% down from 23% so I still have long way to go. The challenge is going to be keeping my weight up.
