Day 82: P90X Legs and Back/Ab Ripper

Day 82. P90X Legs and Back/Ab Ripper. Today was tough. I don't think I got enough carbs yesterday. I did not want to do the Ab Ripper today. I was really feeling tired. I made it through though. You have to Bring it. Just goes to show you that nutrition is very important. You need to fuel your body in order to bring the intensity. Today was the last tough work out of this initial 90 days. Kenpo tomorrow and recovery week next week. Yoga, core, kenpo and then were done. My hands are also killing me today. I bought some gloves but they were ripped when I brought them home so I need to return them. Back and bicep day really gets your hands if you are using dumbells and then more pull ups today don't help at all either. All well. I think I bought the gloves too late since there is only 8 days left and I won't be using the dumbells during these last 8 days. That's ok. I'll use them when I start back up on the weights.

Using P90X to help train for a marathon.

Athletes use the P90X workouts to keep a competitive edge during a marathon. P90X keeps your whole body in shape. With a wide range of exercises you will find that P90X will give you the edge in any competition.

Day 81: P90X Yoga X

Day 81. P90X Yoga X. 9 more days and counting. I can't believe how much easier yoga is now then it was the first time I did it. First couple times I did it I hated it. Now I like it. It really gest your muscles loose after working them hard with the weights, push ups and pull ups. We are going to have to start thinking about what we are going to do when this 90 days of P90X is up. I think I might want to do a second round starting in September but I'm not sure yet. I know I want to get back on my weights and bench. I think I will always mix in P90X work outs with what ever I do in the future. Love these P90X work outs.

Day 80: P90X Back and Biceps/Ab Ripper

Day 80. P90X Back and Biceps/Ab Ripper. Only 10 days left. I can't believe it. Today's pull ups were tougher than usual. Not sure why, they were just hard. What a great work out. This one makes your biceps feel rock hard. I was pretty tired after this one and then I remembered we have to do the Ab Ripper also. Made it through ok. Always feels good when you are done. Still trying to get back on the right eating schedule since when we were in Biloxi I found myself skipping meals and eating later. I think after today everything should be back to normal.

Day 79: P90X Plyometrics

Day 79. P90X Plyometrics. Not too much to say here today about plyometrics except it is as not as difficult as it used to be. You have to constantly remind yourself to get low and jump high to see the best results. Don't just run through these work outs. You have to up your intensity level from the previous work out if you want to see great results.

Day 78: P90X Chest, Shoulders and Triceps/Ab Ripper

Day 78. P90X Chest, Shoulders and Triceps/Ab Ripper. It's been awhile since I did my P90X work out after 5pm. We just got back from Biloxi and I wasn't sure I was going to have the energy to get through these work outs today. Well, I surprised myself. I got through them just fine. I know my calories have been a little off for the past 3 days but I will get back on track tomorrow. My arms feel tight. My chest feels tight. We even ran while in Biloxi. Things are going good. We probably did cheat a little with some beers, pizza, Arby's, lobster tail with melted butter etc but I'm ok with that. 90% of the time we eat clean. A lot of people ask "Is there a cheat day during P90X?" I want to say no. The only person you are cheating is yourself. P90X is not just a 90 day work out but hopefully the start of a life long wellness change for yourself. P90X is just the tool to get you started. Do we cheat? Well, I guess you could say YES but it's more like we know we eat good most of the time so if we want a little something not on the nutrition plan then we go for it. For the most part though we follow it and do not feel deprived at all. You want 6 pack abs? Up your intensity and follow the nutrition plan exactly. If you cheat a little bit your results will suffer but if you are ok with it then splurge a little. Now I'm not saying go out and eat a dozen donuts but if you are craving a blizzard from DQ then go ahead and get yourself a small. It's not going to kill you but don't make a habit of it. Actually when I have a sweet tooth I have a protein shake with organic peanut butter and rice milk. Tastes like dessert.

Day 77: P90X Rest or Stretch X.

Day 77. P90X rest or stretch x. Ahhhhh. On vacation and we decided to rest. No stretching for us today. Just hanging out by the pool in Biloxi. It's a hot one today. Once again we're sweating out the coronas, martinis, cosmos, and who remembers what else we might have drank last night. Work hard, play hard. Right? Back to the regular schedule tomorrow.

Day 76: P90x in Biloxi.

Well it's day 76 of P90x and we were supposed to do kenpo x. Since we are in Biloxi we had to improvise. We went for a run along the gulf. Very nice but takes the word humid to a whole new level. We had a good sweat and I needed it after those red bull and vodkas last night. Anyone can get active in any place. Just Bring It. Did you start your fitness journey yet? Get up! Get going!

Day 75: P90X Legs and Back/ Ab Ripper

Day 75. P90X Legs and back/ Ab Riper. I only have a few minutes since we are getting ready to go to Biloxi for a long week end. I didn't have a lot of energy today and I was kind of dragging during Legs and Back. Think I skipped lunch yesterday and now I am feeling it today. Remember what you feed your body is just as important as doing the work outs themselves. Since now I know how to post from my Blackberry, I'll try and put a quick post tomorrow of whatever kind of work out we do. "Bring It"

Blackberry test

I am testing out my new blackberry to see if this feature in blogger works. I attached a picture from the job fair we did about Beachbody. Technology is amazing. After 2 weeks with this phone I will probably never switch to any other.

Day 74: P90X Yoga X

Day 74. P90X Yoga X. Every week Yoga X gets easier and easier so don't get discouraged if you can't flex as much as they do in the video or hold the poses as long as they do. Those poses are very difficult for someone who have never done yoga before. I couldn't hold those poses the first time I did yoga but now I can hold them all. Just do your best and over time you will get there. Tomorrow we are going to Biloxi, MS for a little weekend vacation and this is the first time we won't be doing the scheduled P90X work out. I'll be able to work out Friday morning and do legs and back/ab ripper but we will be in Biloxi come Saturday morning and I'm not quite sure what work out we will do. Kenpo is what we are supposed to do and it is pretty easy at this point so maybe we will get in some running, push ups etc. Sunday is a rest day and we get back Monday afternoon so we will have time to do Chest, Shoulders and Triceps/Ab Ripper.

Wednesday, July 22, 2009

Day 73: P90X Shoulders and Arms/Ab Ripper

Day 73. P90X Shoulders and Back/Ab Ripper. One thing we definitely realized during this first round of P90X is you have to get your rest. We have crazy sleeping habits. What do I mean? Well, we fall asleep on the couch til 3-4 am and then go to bed thinking we will be able to fall right back to sleep. Wrong! We go to bed and then stare at the ceiling for an hour then sleep for 4 hours and then wake up and try and do P90X. When you don't get enough rest you will end up like Christina and pass out in the middle of the day.

You must get enough rest to perform at your peak level during P90X. Try and get at least 7 hours of sleep. Your muscles will thank you.

Tuesday, July 21, 2009

Day 72. P90X Plyometrics

Day 72. P90X Plyometrics. Once again we got the whole family involved for plymetrics. All 4 of us did it today. Nik said his legs were sore from yesterday since he did some football training but I told him come August 3rd he better be ready for 2 hours of this every day. In the sun and heat also. Not in a nice cool basement. For the most part plyo is getting pretty easy. Still makes me sweat but it doesn't want to make me puke anymore. Plyometrics is a great calorie burner. You can really adjust your intensity level also. Want to work harder then just jump higher. Faster. Stronger. "Bring It"

P90X Discount, P90X Promo Code, P90X Coupon

UPDATE
Check out the absolute best deal at Beachbody. The Showcase pack for $199.99

Also from time to time Beachbody does run specials and promotions but the only way to know about them is if you are a member of the Beachbody community. They send out a free weekly news letter with tips, recipes, specials etc. Become a member of the Beachbody community for FREE.

I often receive questions on how to get the best deal when ordering the P90X Exercise Program. Can I get a discount? Is there a coupon I can use for P90X? Is there a promo code for P90X? What about eBay? I seen it somewhere for $69, is it legit? Ok, where do I start? You can get a used copy of P90X on eBay and it might come with the P90X work out guide and P90X nutrition plan or it might not. Be sure to check. The deals you see on the net are usually bootlegged or pirated copies and if you are lucky you might get the guides in pdf format. With P90X you need to know the order in which to do the work outs so you really need the work out guide and the nutrition plan is a big part of this program. If you do not have some sort of nutrition plan to follow you are setting yourself up for failure. Coupons for a certain percentage off? Well, I haven't seen them. If you are looking to save money on P90X and all of the supplements such as the P90x Recovery Drink, Pull up bar, P90X Protein Bars, P90X Multi-Vitamin or any other Beachbody™ products then the best way to save 25% on everything is to become a Beachbody™ Coach. What' does a coach do? We help others get started with Beachbody programs and help them become a coach as well if they are looking to earn some extra money. As a coach you will make 25% on all of your sales of Beachbody products as well as save 25% on all of your future purchases. You can also earn money on your team of Beachbody coaches. What's the cost to be a coach? It is $39.95 to sign up and 30 days after that you will be billed $14.95 for your website. Now as a coach, you will purchase all of your supplements from yourself and save 25%. Not let's compare this to your local gym membership. I know they vary but I think Lifetime is about $65 a month with $150 enrollment fee. If you use a personal trainer then you could really be spending a lot. With Beachbody, you pick your program and you have a great work out to follow, nutrition plan included. So you are killing 2 birds with one stone. You are starting your journey to reach your fitness goals while potentially creating a life long residual income. Beachbody spends $100 million in advertising and as qualified coaches we are the direct beneficiary of this. These customers are assigned to us as coaches and we receive commission on any future purchases.(Sounds good to me.)

If you would like to receive more information on becoming a Beachbody coach then visit Beachbody Business Opportunity. Enter your info on the right and you will get some more info from me.

Here is a quick video that shows how you make money as a Beachbody coach.

Can you be a coach? Of course you can. If you like to help people then you can be a coach. You do not need to be a personal trainer or have any previous experience. This is a great opportunity to get rid of your gym membership, get a discount on your health supplements and build yourself a life long residual income.

Day 71: P90X Chest and Back/Ab Ripper

Day 70. P90X Chest and Back/Ab Ripper. Wow! I did over 400 push ups today. 8 sets, 4 different moves. Plus all the pull ups that go along with Chest and Back day. I can't believe this was the last time we do this work out. 90 days goes buy fast. You don't do it in week 12 and the last week is just the recovery week. I don't want to sound like a broken record but now is the time you really have to dig deep and push yourself. Get those extra reps in. Tip for today. Don't eat for at least an hour before this work out. If you do you might lose it. Especially if you are "Bringing It".

Day 70: P90X Stretch X or Rest

Day 70. Rest or Stretch X. Decided to rest today but every time I say that it never ends up that way. I still went and ran about 2 miles. Felt good. Tomorrow starts week 11.

Saturday, July 18, 2009

Day 69: P90X Kenpo X

Day 69. P90X Kenpo X. I can't believe there is only 21 days left in the P90X program. Not sure if we will get P90X Plus or One on One with Tony Horton which sends a new work out every month. As far as Kenpo X I think we are going to substitute P90X Core Synergistics next week for Kenpo. Kenpo just seem really easy now and we get more of a burn from core synergistics. You really sweat with that work out. Not much else to say about Kenpo X today. It is a break from all of the tough muscle building moves though. Probably keeps you pretty limber also with all the kicks and punches.

Obama on P90X.

So I came across this picture on the net and I had to get in touch with some of my Secret Service buddies to find out what Barack Obama was thinking at the moment this picture was taken. To my surprise Obama was reported as saying " Is that a P90X Nutrition Guide in her hand?" Standing next to Obama was the President of France and he was reported as saying "The only way to get a gluteus maximus like that is by doing P90X and following the nutrition plan." Of course Sarkozy made this statement in French so it sounded real good. Amazing, even the French know about P90X. Maybe Barack will make P90X part of his new health care initiative? After the picture, Obama and Sarkozy were reported to have placed a friendly wager on whether the girl in question was in Phase 1, Phase 2 or Phase 3 of P90X. Barack took the middle of the road and went with Phase 2. Sarkozy went with Phase 1 since he wasn't sure and didn't want to offend anybody.(Go figure) Winner, Barack Obama. We don't know what the wager was but let's just say I heard we will get to keep the Statue of Liberty. Sarkozy claims that Barack had a better view so he was not able to make a good guess of which phase the young lady was in.

Mix politics with p90X and everyone wins.

Day 68: P90X Legs and Back/Ab Ripper

Day 68. P90X Legs and Back/Ab Ripper. Pull ups, sneaky lunges, wall squats, more pull ups and more lunges. This is a tough work out especially if you add the weights during the exercises. You will have to work up to that but it makes it all that much harder. I'm going to have to get some weight gloves. My hands are pretty beat up from the pull ups and Back and Bicep day. The dumbells and pull up bar have taken its toll. I can't find decent padding to wrap my home made pull up bar with so I just used 2 layers of hockey tape. Not enough. it still hurts. I'm hoping the gloves will fix that. It is very easy to slack off in Phase 3. You will be able to do all of the movements pretty well and you won't be very sore anymore so you might find yourself just repeating the previous week. Don't do it. Always try and get in more reps and more weight. More pull ups, more push ups, jump higher and dig deeper. Your body will thank you.

Day 67: P90X Yoga X

Day 67. P90X Yoga X. It really is amazing how different yoga x is now then it was the first time I did it. For me I have noticed some great changes and it is helping me isolate some of the muscles in my right leg that have been lacking for awhile. I had back surgery about 6 years ago to remove a piece of disk that had broken off and was blocking my nerve. Talk about pain. Not the surgery but the pain from the disk blocking my nerve. I could barely get around and when I did I was usually limping. The muscle mass in my right leg was definitely different. It still is not 100% to this day and Yoga X is really helping with that. You are probably thinking, Wow, back surgery and you are doing P90X. For me P90X is helping strengthen my ab muscles as well as my back muscles. If you have back problems I would say everyone is different and there might be some moves throughout the course of P90X that you might not be comfortable with. Plough and shoulder stand in Yoga X are 2 moves you might want to go in carefully. Also the "Dreya roll" in P90X Core Synergistics is another one that might feel weird. If you have back problems I would say check with your doctor and they take extra caution with every move to see how it will affect you. I do everything with the highest intensity and feel there would have been more lost if I didn't do P90X. This has been the best work out I have ever done. You can start slow and work your way up. P90X works so many muscles so your over all fitness is going to be much better. Actually I think P90X works every muscle at one time or another.

Day 66: P90x Back and Biceps/Ab Ripper

Day 66. P90X Back and Biceps/Ab Ripper. Isolate the biceps, that's the ticket. Curls and more curls and then throw in some pull ups. My triceps still feel tight from Chest, Shoulders and Triceps the other day. Now my biceps will be pretty tight for 2 days. I did realize that I need some heavier dumbells for lawnmower's, maybe 50-60 lbs. Not sure yet. Problem is I refuse to pay retail for weights. I like to find used ones. Much better deal. Brand new dumbells are about $1 per pound. Used ones are half that price. I found my last set on craigslist so I will check there and see what I can find.

Day 65: P90x Plyometrics.

Day 65. P90X Plyometrics. Today was a family affair. We all did P90X Plyometrics. Taylor is getting ready for soccer, Nik is getting ready for football and Christina and I are doing P90X to get in great shape. After to months of the "X" plyo really is getting easier. You really have to up the intensity when it starts to feel like it is getting easier. I worked hard yesterday and I can feel it in my triceps today. That's what you have to do. More reps and more weight. During plyo you have to jump higher and higher. Then you will take your results to the next level.

There is this conditioning class at a sports center for about $180 bucks for Nik for the next few weeks. You could try it out for the first day and see if you like it. Well guess what. We will be doing plyo instead. He showed me the moves they did and they are all in P90X Plyometrics. P90X is such a great all around work out. Anyone in any sports can benefit from P90X. Looking to get in great shape? Get P90X. Commit to 90 days. It will change your life.

Day 64: P90X Chest, Shoulders and Triceps/ Ab Ripper

Day 64. P90X Chest, Shoulders and Triceps/ Ab Ripper. Can you say 9 different variations of push ups? (Unless I forgot something.) Then all kinds of triceps extensions. Great work out. Today is the day you do the dreaded plyo or clap push ups. You clap your hands in mid air between push ups or you can go airborne by getting both your hands and feet off the ground. Can you cay "Bring It". To get great results you really have to push yourself. Too many people stop way before they should. Don't let this happen to you. For me there really is no soreness anymore. It's 2 months into this program so my body has adapted pretty well. Keep uping the weight and we should have some good results here down the home stretch in the last 30 days.

Sunday, July 12, 2009

Day 63: P90X Stretch X or Rest.

Day 63. P90x Stretch X or Rest. Why ruin a good thing. We chose to rest again today. Sunday is a great rest day. Even though we really never rest, today we ran a couple miles and then went kayaking for about a hour. Now that's a good shoulder work out with great scenery.

Saturday, July 11, 2009

Day 62: P90X Kenpo X

Day 62. P90X Kenpo X. Like I previously said this work out is like a rest day for us. Not too hard at all. Maybe it is designed that way, to be a mini rest day. It did feel really good getting those stretches in, especially after doing P90x Legs and Back yesterday. You could probably sub in another routine here but for these initial 90 days we will stick to the plan. "Bring It"

Day 61: P90X Legs and Back/Ab Ripper

Day 61. P90X Legs and Back/Ab Ripper. We were tired today. Both of these work outs were more difficult today for some reason. I still added some 10 lb dumbells to the sneaky lunges even though none of them do. Now that makes it tough. We were on are feet all day talking about Team Beachbody at a job fair so I am not sure if that had anything to do with making us tired but we were whipped when we pushed play and super whipped by the time we finished.

Day 60 with P90x pictures and measurements.

These are my pictures after 60 days of doing P90X and following the nutrition plan about 90%.

Day 1 P90X

Day 60 P90x

Day 1 P90X

Day 60 P90X

Day 1 P90X

Day 60 P90X

Weight 165 lbs
Chest 42 in
Waist 33 in
Hips 38 in
Right Arm 14in
Left Arm 14in
Right Thigh 21in
Left Thigh 21in
Body fat% 18.5%

So far With P90X I lost almost 5% body fat. All from my mid section and that's exactly where I wanted to lose it from. Get rid of the belly fat. The worst and most unhealthy place to let it build. Want to see my 30 day P90X pictures? P90X has definitely given me more definition and helped me lose some belly fat. Now we will see what phase 3 will bring. This is the final 30 days of P90X.

Day 60: P90X Yoga X

Day 60. P90X Yoga X. Another day of Yoga. Still getting easier and easier every time we do it. Feels good to get that stretching in now. It is also day 60 so I will be posting some 60 day progress pictures either today or tomorrow. Not sure what kind of changes there will be but I do feel really good. Also did about a 3 mile run today.

Day 59: P90X Shoulders and Arms/Ab Ripper

Day 59. P90X Shoulders and Arms/Ab Ripper. Haven't done this work out since Phase 1 also. I like this work out. It works the biceps and triceps real good. Your arms feel really tight after this one so you know that you had a good work out. You have to "Bring It" though. You have to push yourself for each and every exercise. Ab Ripper is getting kind of easy and "no" I don't have 6 pack abs. There's a 6 pack in them but not on them yet. They do look a lot better now then they did pre-P90X but we'll see what happens. You can not just work your abs to get a 6 pack. You have to reduce over all body fat and for me what little body fat I do have is all around my waist. The fat is leaving the building and the next 30 day will be interesting.

On a side note Christina received a call from her friend today who is also doing P90x. She was at the store and needed the ingredients for a recipe in the nutrition guide. We personally haven't tried it yet but she said the Island Pork Tenderloin was amazing. So good that she is serving it at her wedding shower.

16 oz pork tenderloin, lean
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon chile powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 teaspoons olive oil
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 tablespoon fresh garlic, finely chopped
1/2 tablespoon Tabasco sauce

Serves 4

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
2. Stir together salt, pepper, cumin, chile powder and cinnamon, then coat pork with the spice and rub.
3. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a 12in skillet over moderately high heat and brown pork, turning about 4 minutes.
4. Stir together brown sugar, garlic and Tabasco sauce and pat onto top of tenderloin. Place pork in a roasting pan and cook in the oven for 20 minutes.

Day 58: P90x Plyometrics

Day 58: P90x Plyometrics. Had to get up early to do this one today since we had a trip planned to Cedar Point. Nothing like doing P90x Plyometrics at 7:30am. Want a wake up call? Plyo is a good one. Nothing like jumping around for an hour knowing you will be walking miles and miles at Cedar Point. We had a great time though and I'm sure I burned more calories then I took in but I totally ate horrible. Pizza, cheese burger, nachos, mashed potatoes. That might be the worst day I have had yet eating. Luckily with plyo and all the walking I'm sure we took care of all the calories. Well, one day of junk isn't going to kill me so I'll be back to eating great as soon as we get back. I must say while we were all at Cedar Point the kids really did surprise me. I can't believe Nik and Taylor rode a ton of roller coasters. Then are 10 and 8 respectively and we rode coasters pretty much all day.

Does this look scary?

Imagine how it looked to a 8 and 10 year old. They were real troopers and rode just about everything we had time for. Now Christina on the other hand rode all the coasters as well, but practically had a panic attack on the Power Tower and made them let her off. She was in the seat and then freaked out so I rode that one alone. I was laughing all day. To see the looks on these guys faces' was totally priceless. We will be laughing about this day for a long time.

I did have a "hmmm" moment the first ride we went on. We were getting in line on the Raptor and we were trying out the seat and the harness on the kids just to make sure everything fit well when a few people starting walking up. We told them to go ahead and pass us since we were going to be a few minutes as we wanted to make sure they weren't too small. Well she replied, " That's ok, I need to make sure I am not too big to ride". I felt bad for her and thought right away, Team Beachbody would be perfect for this girl. There are so many programs to choose from. Turbo Jam, Hip Hop Abs, P90X, Chalean Extreme, Slim in 6, 10 Minute Trainer, Project You Type 2 and so many others. It's a shame that anyone has to be put through that. We didn't get into a conversation as everyone was too excited and ready to get on the ride.

Day 57. P90X Chest and Back/Ab Ripper

Day 57. P90X Chest and Back/Ab Ripper. Holy cow! I totally forgot how hard this work out was. You don't do it at all in the second phase but now it is back with a vengeance. Push ups, pull ups, more push ups, more pull ups and just when you figure out that you are finally done then you have to do the Ab Ripper too. Pull ups were pretty tough today. Max reps on almost everything today. I think this might be the hardest work out. Then again I thought yoga was the hardest but now it's not that bad. I guess because of the muscle confusion, different work outs are going to feel harder and sometimes easier depending on when you do it. Also time of day seems to play an important role. Even though I work out in the morning I do have more energy in the afternoon. You will have to work P90x into your schedule at a time that is best for you. The important thing is to get going. Great things happen once you set your plan into motion.

Day 56. P90x Stretch X or Rest.

P90x Stretch X or rest. Well once again we decided to rest. We did run a couple miles so I guess it was not total rest. Starting Phase 3 tomorrow. Can't believe it. Only 4 more weeks to go. Hope everyone had a great 4th of July weekend.
